Inter Milan Director Shuts Down Sommer Transfer Rumors
Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio says goalkeeper Yann Sommer is not leaving for Galatasaray. He insists the Swiss veteran is still very important to the club before the new season starts.
WHAT AUSILIO SAID
Ausilio said clearly, “Yann Sommer was not close to Galatasaray. Nothing concrete happened, he’s our goalkeeper and I expect him to stay.” His words come after many rumors that Galatasaray wanted Sommer. Reports said a good contract was ready for the 36-year-old goalkeeper. But Inter is firm. No talks happened, and Sommer is still the first choice at San Siro for the next season.
RECENT SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
Sommer came to Inter in August 2023 and has been very important since then. Last season, was their starter in most Serie A matches. This was not enough, however, to help them Inter win their 20th league title, losing it on the last matchday to Napoli. He also played very well in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. Although Inter finished second in the 2024/25 Serie A season, Sommer’s skills and experience were very important for the club’s defense.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEW SEASON
As pre-season training begins, Inter wants stability in goal. Sommer’s contract lasts until 2026, and Ausilio’s words say he will start the new season as the first-choice goalkeeper. Inter will next play a big friendly match against Real Madrid, then their Serie A opener against Torino. Inter finished last season second, just behind winners Napoli. Both teams will use upcoming matches to fine-tune strategies before the new league campaigns start.
