Inter Milan to Part Ways with Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautović This Summer

Inter Milan have decided to let forwards Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautović go when their contracts end in June. Both players will become free agents. This marks a significant change in Inter’s attack for the 2025-26 season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The decision to release Correa and Arnautović follows a season with few contributions from both. Correa, who joined from Lazio in 2021, struggled with injuries and inconsistent form. After a disappointing loan at Marseille, he returned to Inter as a backup. He started only a few games and failed to become a regular player.

Marko Arnautović also had limited time on the field, and both will leave when their contracts expire in June.

BIGGER PICTURE

Inter are Serie A champions, finishing well ahead of rivals and securing the title early. Despite the success, the club is planning changes to strengthen key areas and reduce salaries. Releasing Correa and Arnautović is expected to save Inter over 13 million euros, offering more flexibility to sign new talent. Correa, now 30, is attracting interest from South American clubs like Internacional and Estudiantes. Arnautović will also seek a new club soon.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR INTER AND THE PLAYERS?

Inter must now plan for life without the two forwards. The club is expected to be active in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their attack. Their next game is the final Serie A fixture, but with the title won, focus has shifted to re-shaping the squad. Correa seems likely to move to South America, with Internacional and Estudiantes keen to sign him as a free agent. Arnautović will also pursue opportunities in Europe or elsewhere. Both players will seek to restart their careers away from Milan, while Inter aim to maintain their dominance in Italian football.
