Inter Milan to Sign Manuel Akanji Permanently in Summer 2026

Inter Milan has decided to sign Manuel Akanji from Manchester City permanently in summer 2026 for €15 million. The club is very happy with his performance and wants him in their future plans, as signing Akanji would be a huge boost for their squad.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Inter signed Akanji from Manchester City on transfer deadline day after selling Benjamin Pavard to Marseille. Pavard left Inter Milan after two seasons, playing in 69 matches and scoring once. Akanji joined Inter with an initial loan deal, which includes an option to make the switch permanent for €15 million. The Swiss defender settled quickly and will start their upcoming fixture against Juventus. He has taken Jan Aurel Bisseck’s position on the right of the back three and will play alongside Francisco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, with Yann Sommer as the goalkeeper. Inter is impressed with Akanji’s performance, whose edge and quality were missed after Pavard’s departure.
