Inter Milan Turn Down Utrecht’s Approach for Thomas Berenbruch

Inter Milan have turned down an offer from Utrecht for young midfielder Thomas Berenbruch. Inter have full faith in the Italian talent for their future success.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Dutch side Utrecht made an approach to sign Thomas Berenbruch, but Inter Milan have rejected the offer. The club has released an official statement reaffirming their trust in the 19-year-old midfielder. Berenbruch joined the Inter academy in 2020 and is now seen as one of their best prospects. He has already made his first-team debut over in the Champions League and Coppa Italia and featured as a substitute against Feyenoord recently. The 2004-born talent is contracted until 2028, which shows Inter’s trust in him.

THE RISE OF BERENBRUCH AND INTER’S SEASON SO FAR

Berenbruch continues to impress at the U19 level and is a regular name on Inter’s first-team bench. He has been monumental in their run to the UEFA Youth League quarter-finals and also boasts appearances for the Italy youth national teams. He is yet to make his Serie A debut, but the path at Inter is promising for him. Inter themselves are having a strong season, as they aim to reclaim the Scudetto after losing it in sensational fashion last year when Napoli won it in the last matchday. They are fighting at the top of the table to retain the Serie A title amidst rivals competing hard for Champions League spots.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BERENBRUCH AND INTER?

With Inter showing faith in Berenbruch, the young midfielder will likely continue to split time between the senior bench and the Primavera squad. Inter’s upcoming clash is against Torino in the Serie A, a game they must not lose if they want to pose a threat to the league title. It could be a good opportunity for Berenbruch to make his presence felt amidst injuries to senior midfielders, while the Dutch side Utrecht will have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder as Inter hold on to one of Italy’s top youngsters.
