Inter Star Ready to Leave for Bargain Release Clause Price in Blow to Serie A Giants

Inter fans are gearing for a tense summer as a key clause in Denzel Dumfries’ contract could allow him to leave for just €25m if the full sum is paid in one installment.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Following a successful 2024/25 campaign, Dumfries is at the center of transfer speculation due to the relatively low release clause in his contract. The clause requires any interested club to only pay €25m upfront and in one payment, which is considered a bargain in today’s market, especially for the Dutchman, who scored seven goals and assisted three others in Serie A, also being one of the key players in the Nerazzurri‘s run to the Champions League final.

WHY THE CLAUSE MATTERS

Inter are at risk of losing one of their most important players. Dumfries was instrumental for them last season and despite recently signing a new deal until 2028, the low clause now leaves Inter exposed, and several other top European sides are likely to show strong interest in the coming days. The Nerazzurri finished second in Serie A last season, just behind Napoli, and were hoping to keep their squad together for another title push.

A previous report confirmed that Inter Milan finished second in Serie A last season.

WHAT NEXT FOR INTER?

Inter play Torino in their first Serie A match of the season in mid-August. As they aim to reclaim the title they lost to Napoli, they will not want further changes in a squad that has already seen other key players like Calhanoglu potentially leaving for Galatasaray. However, all eyes will be on whether any club makes a move to trigger Dumfries’ release clause in this short window.

Inter Milan will play Torino in the first weekend of the 2025-26 Serie A campaign.
