Inzaghi Set For Al Hilal Move With €26m Per Season Deal

Simone Inzaghi is about to join Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal. The Italian coach is traveling to Paris for a key meeting with the club’s president. He will then head to Saudi Arabia later this week to finalize the deal.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Inzaghi has left Inter Milan after four seasons. The 49-year-old is becoming the new manager of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. He will sign a big contract until June 2027. The deal is worth €26 million net per season. It is one of the most expensive managerial appointments in football history. After his meetings in Paris and Saudi Arabia, Inzaghi will travel to the United States next week for his new role.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Inzaghi is leaving Inter after a tough season for the Nerazzurri. They reached the Champions League final for the second time in three years. However, they lost heavily to Paris Saint-Germain. They also missed out on the Serie A title, with Antonio Conte’s Napoli taking the crown. During his time at Inter, Inzaghi won one Scudetto, two Italian Cups, and three Italian Super Cups. He established himself as one of Italy’s top coaches.

His new club, Al Hilal, finished second in the Saudi Pro League last season. Al Hilal’s financial strength allowed them to offer Inzaghi a salary far higher than what he earned in Italy. Reports suggest his initial offer was around €20-25 million per year but later rose to €26 million.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR INTER?

Inter are now looking for Inzaghi’s replacement. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas is the favorite for the job. Roberto De Zerbi is also on Inter’s shortlist. He reportedly has a release clause active until June 10. Fabregas’ tactical versatility and experience with a back-three system make him an attractive candidate for Inter. The Nerazzurri are looking to rebuild after Inzaghi’s departure.

NEW CHALLENGES AWAIT

For Inzaghi, this move is a big change after his entire coaching career in Italy. Before joining Inter in 2021, he was already successful at Lazio, winning one Coppa Italia and two Super Cups. After four intense seasons with Inter, the Italian coach is ready for something new. He will face different challenges and enjoy the considerable financial benefits of his new role.
