Jacobo Ramón Set to Join Como From Real Madrid

Jacobo Ramón is about to leave Real Madrid and join Serie A team Como. The transfer is worth €2.5 million with extra payments possible. Real Madrid included terms to keep future control over the young player’s career.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Como and Real Madrid have agreed on the transfer of Jacobo Ramón. The deal pays Real Madrid €2.5 million initially, with more payments if Ramón plays regularly for Como. Real Madrid also gets 50% of any future sale and has three chances to buy him back. This deal is similar to the one for Nico Paz moving to Como last year.

WHY JACOBO IS LEAVING MADRID

Ramón, famous for scoring a late goal against Osasuna in May, chose to leave Real Madrid. The arrival of Dean Huijsen and competition from senior players like Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and David Alaba limited Ramón’s chances of playing for the first team next season. He refused to play for Real Madrid’s reserve team, Castilla, and wanted to join a different club—one that could give him top-flight football. Ramón is currently contracted with Real Madrid until 2028.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR COMO AND THE SEASON AHEAD

Como narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 10th in Serie A, and have been busy making transfers this summer to improve their squad and fight for European qualification. After signing another highly-rated defender from Real Madrid, Nico Paz, Como also added Ramón to their squad. With their first match against Hellas Verona scheduled on the opening weekend, Como will hope their new defender can quickly adapt and help them improve on last season’s finish. Real Madrid, meanwhile, will keep a close eye on how Ramón performs at his new club—they have several options to bring him back in the future.
