Jadon Sancho Joins Aston Villa on Season-Long Loan from Manchester United

Jadon Sancho has moved to Aston Villa on loan for the 2025/26 season. Villa will pay 80% of his salary, while Manchester United covers 20%. The agreement includes loan fees and possible bonuses.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Sancho leaves Manchester United after a tough time. He spent last season on loan at Chelsea, where he scored two goals and one assist in just 14 league games. United wanted to sell him permanently, but couldn’t find a buyer. Aston Villa, in need of wingers after losing Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, quickly signed Sancho. Villa faced financial limits, so they chose a loan deal. They will cover a large part of his wages and pay a loan fee and performance bonuses. Sancho’s United contract ends next summer, but the club can extend it by a year to avoid losing him for free, as reported previously.

ASTON VILLA’S SEASON SO FAR

Villa have had issues with attacking depth. The departures of Rashford, Asensio, and Leon Bailey left manager Unai Emery short on wingers. Villa are currently in the relegation spots in the Premier League, with one point from three matches and no goals scored. Their next game is away against Everton, who are currently in the European battle with 6 points from three matches. Villa want to strengthen their squad as they aim for European qualification.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SANCHO AND MAN UNITED?

Sancho hopes to regain his form under Emery. Villa’s attacking style could boost his confidence, similar to what happened with Rashford before his Barcelona move. For United, this loan reduces the wage bill and may increase Sancho’s value for a future permanent exit. United are currently eighth in the league, with four points from three matches. They face Manchester City next, and these matches could significantly impact the race for the top six as the season advances.
