Jadon Sancho Open to Roma Transfer as £20m Proposal Takes Shape

Jadon Sancho might join AS Roma in a £20 million deal. This includes a loan and a guaranteed transfer. Sancho doesn’t want to go to Turkey, so Rome is likely.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Roma made a £20 million offer for Sancho with a loan and easy purchase conditions. Sancho would be permanently with Roma next season. He was on loan at Borussia Dortmund and then Chelsea, where he played a part in their successful campaign, helping them win the Europa Conference League last season. However, he hasn’t played for Manchester United since August 2023, as he was excluded from United’s squad and has been training separately. Several clubs, such as Besiktas and Juventus, are interested, but Sancho refuses to go to Turkey. Juventus have even downplayed rumors linking them to Sancho, as confirmed by a recent report source.

WHY ROMA WANT SANCHO

Roma want to improve their attack and focus on Sancho, who is seen as a top priority. The club also considered Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey, but Sancho remains their main target. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini views Sancho as a valuable addition, especially after Roma finished fifth last season, narrowly missing out on Champions League football on the last matchday to Juventus. Sancho, 25, brings speed and creativity, which was noticeably lacking when Paulo Dybala was injured last season.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The next steps involve Manchester United and Sancho reaching an agreement with Roma. United have told Sancho he must find a new club before the Premier League season begins, with their opening match against Arsenal just days away. Roma’s first fixture in the new Serie A season is against Bologna. They aim to challenge for higher standings after finishing fifth last season. Additionally, United are looking to trim their roster, making several other players available for transfer before the deadline.
