Jakub Kiwior Set For FC Porto Move: Deal With Arsenal Agreed

Jakub Kiwior is close to joining FC Porto. Arsenal and the Portuguese club have agreed on a loan deal with the obligation for Porto to buy him. The 25-year-old Polish defender is expected to travel to Portugal within the next 24 hours after the paperwork is approved.

WHAT HAPPENED?

FC Porto have secured an agreement with Arsenal to sign Kiwior on an initial €2 million loan. His permanent transfer will cost €17 million plus additional add-ons and a sell-on clause. The final total could reach €25–27 million depending on his performance. Porto have prioritized Kiwior as a key signing for coach Francesco Farioli and are seeking to reinforce defensive options before the end of the summer transfer window. As per reports, Porto worked hard to finalize the deal quickly, as Kiwior was open to leaving Arsenal for more regular football after two seasons with inconsistent minutes in London. The move is now imminent with the player expected in Porto to complete the formalities soon following agreement on personal terms.

KIWIOR’S SEASON SO FAR AND ARSENAL’S SITUATION

Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023 for £20 million, has played more than 50 times for the club, often as a utility player in central defense and at left-back. He scored twice and contributed four assists as Arsenal finished second in the Premier League behind champions Liverpool. Many of his appearances came as a substitute, and he was not always first choice under Mikel Arteta. Arsenal are finalizing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié, which has paved the way for Kiwior’s exit.

PORTO’S NEXT STEPS AND SEASON OUTLOOK

FC Porto are determined to bounce back after finishing third in the 2024/25 Primeira Liga, trailing champions Sporting and missing direct UEFA Champions League qualification. Porto are aiming to integrate Kiwior into the squad while seeking to create a gap on Benfica and rivals Sporting CP, who are level on points after three matches. Kiwior’s arrival is expected to strengthen Porto’s defense for both their league and European campaigns, providing coach Francesco Farioli with another reliable option in a key position as the club looks to improve upon their third-place finish last season.
