Jan Bednarek Completes Move to FC Porto on Four-Year Deal

Jan Bednarek has moved to FC Porto. He signed a contract until June 2029. The Portuguese team adds him to strengthen their defense for the new season.

TRANSFER CONFIRMED: BEDNAREK JOINS PORTO

The 29-year-old Polish player joined Porto from Southampton. The transfer fee was around €7.5 million, as confirmed by FC Porto. Bednarek completed his medical tests and signed a four-year deal. This ties him to Porto until June 2029.

Last season, Bednarek started 23 games for Southampton. He brought stability and leadership. However, the team was relegated from the Premier League following the 2024/25 season. Now, he is joining Porto’s plans under new head coach Francesco Farioli, who wants more experience in defense. Bednarek played 243 games for Southampton since he joined from Lech Poznań in 2017.

WHY PORTO MADE THIS MOVE

Porto needed a reliable central defender, especially with European competitions ahead. Bednarek has much experience from playing in the English league, and he is expected to play a vital role in helping Porto regain the Primeira Liga title.
