Jarell Quansah Completes Move From Liverpool to Bayer Leverkusen

Jarell Quansah has left Liverpool to join Bayer Leverkusen. The initial transfer fee is £30 million. Liverpool can earn up to £5 million in bonuses. A clause allows Liverpool to buy him back from 2027 for €70 million plus bonuses.

A previous report confirmed the transfer details regarding the fee and buy-back clause.

TRANSFER DETAILS AND WHAT HAPPENED?

Quansah, 22, joined Liverpool‘s academy at age five. Now, after 17 years, he’s moving to the Bundesliga champions. He played 25 games for Liverpool last season, winning the Premier League and Carabao Cup. Last season, he played 25 matches under new manager Arne Slot, including 13 league games. The move includes a buy-back clause, showing Liverpool still believes in his potential.

A previous report confirmed that Jarell Quansah played in 25 Premier League matches last season.

LIVERPOOL AND LEVERKUSEN: CURRENT FORM AND SQUAD CHANGES

Liverpool recently won their 20th English top-flight title, completing the 2024/25 Premier League season in first place with 89 points. Quansah showed promise, but his role lessened last season, starting just four Premier League matches. Liverpool has spent heavily on new talent, signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Jeremie Frimpong. Meanwhile, Leverkusen, reigning Bundesliga runner-ups after winning the title the previous year, are adding depth and youth to their defense, having finished second last season in the Bundesliga. Both clubs are set to compete in the Champions League next season.

A previous report confirmed the latest performances of both Liverpool and Leverkusen in their respective leagues.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR QUANSAH AND BOTH CLUBS?

Quansah aims to establish himself in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen, who begin title defense in August. Liverpool continues to reshape the squad for Arne Slot’s second season, searching for Quansah’s replacement but staying selective in the market. Liverpool’s first match of the new Premier League season is against mid-table finishers Brighton. Leverkusen will face Augsburg on their Bundesliga return. Both clubs have busy summers ahead, with their league campaigns starting soon and Liverpool’s Community Shield against Crystal Palace starting even before that.
