Jeremy Sarmiento Set For Cremonese Loan Move From Brighton

Cremonese have agreed to sign Ecuadorian winger Jeremy Sarmiento on loan from Brighton. This move adds to their squad after a strong start in Serie A.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 23-year-old, who has played for Benfica and Brighton, will join Cremonese for the rest of the season. Several clubs showed interest in Sarmiento this summer, including teams in England and South America, but he wanted to stay in Europe. Last season, he helped Burnley win promotion from the Championship with one goal and two assists in 21 games on loan. Sarmiento arrives at Cremonese as they’ve gathered momentum, earning six points from their first two matches.

CREMONESE’S EARLY SEASON FORM

Cremonese started the Serie A campaign strong, winning their opening two matches. They are in at the top of the table, level on the select few group of teams who won both their opening matches. Their victory over Sassuolo was impressive, showing defensive strength and attacking intent with a 93 minute winner. This form has led to discussions about whether Cremonese can compete for a European spot. Their next match is against Hellas Verona, who drew their opener to Udinese and are visiting Lazio this weekend.

WHAT NEXT FOR SARMIENTO AND CREMONESE?

Sarmiento’s arrival adds pace and creativity on the left wing for coach Davide Nicola. He will compete with established options but should get a quick chance to prove himself. Cremonese’s solid start gives him a strong platform to shine. The team hopes his experience in England can help them maintain their form and move up the table. Brighton will watch Sarmiento’s progress closely, as he is under contract till 2027. The club hopes regular football at a competitive level will boost his development and market value.
