João Félix Openly Considers Return to Benfica

João Félix wants to return to Benfica. He says reuniting with coach Bruno Lage can influence his future decision. Félix, who began his career at Benfica, is considering coming back after challenging times at Chelsea and AC Milan.

FÉLIX SHARES HIS THOUGHTS

In a recent interview, Félix said: “Seeing Bruno Lage as coach, who is important for my career, affects my decision, and I view returning to Benfica positively. It’s possibly where I lean.” His comments came amid growing speculation about a summer move back to Benfica, the club where he shone as a young player.

CHALLENGING TIMES IN ENGLAND AND ITALY

Félix’s possible return to Benfica comes after a difficult time. Chelsea permanently signed him after a short Atlético Madrid loan but struggled to maximize his talent. Last season, Félix netted just once in 12 Premier League games before a loan move to AC Milan, where he struggled to make a big impact. Criticism at Milan followed, and he’s now keen for a fresh start in Lisbon, with Benfica reportedly preparing a £25.6m bid to sign him.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Benfica ended last season as Primeira Liga runners-up to Sporting and want to bolster their squad to challenge for the league title. Chelsea are open to selling Félix, who is under contract until 2031 and earns a high salary. Félix may return to a place where he played his best football under a familiar coach and help Benfica close the gap on Sporting in the league.

Benfica finished second in the Primeira Liga, three points behind Sporting CP, and ended the season with 85 points.

A previous report confirmed the club’s performance in the league.

According to a previous report, Benfica were knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup by Chelsea.
