João Pedro Set to Leave Brighton as Transfer Talks Heat Up
Brighton & Hove Albion forward João Pedro is likely to leave the club this summer. Several top clubs are interested in the talented Brazilian forward.
WHAT HAPPENED?
João Pedro is said to be close to leaving Brighton as there have been ongoing transfer talks for the player who had a brilliant 2024/25 season with 10 goals and 6 assists in 35 Premier League games. He is contracted until June 2028 but his performance has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Brighton expect to receive a fee in the region of €70 million (£60 million/$76 million) for the 23-year-old and the player is expected to seal his transfer move before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The player is set to depart after a campaign where he did have some heated moments at the club, including the time when he was involved in a training ground bust-up with teammate Jan Paul van Hecke. Despite all the controversies, the Brazilian has been one of the standout players at the club in the last couple of years.
BRIGHTON’S SEASON AND TRANSFER PLANS
The Seagulls narrowly missed out on European qualification in the last season as they finished 10th in the league. They are already preparing for life after João Pedro, and have become the next side ready to spend big on a new signing. According to reports they are nearing a €47m (£40.6m) deal to sign Olympiakos starlet Charalampos Kostoulas, as they look to refresh their forward line, with Chelsea also interested in the player.
