Jonathan David Set to Join Juventus on Free Transfer

Canadian striker Jonathan David is expected to join Juventus after his medical on Friday. He will sign a long-term contract with the club that runs until June 2030. This is a big move for both the player and the club.

According to a previous report, Jonathan David will sign a long-term contract with Juventus once he passes his medical examination.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Jonathan David left Lille when his contract ended recently. While the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and PSG also pursued him, he chose Turin due to the presence of compatriot Buchanan. The 25-year-old agreed to a six-season contract, which will see him earn €6 million (£5.1m/$6.3m) per year.

A previous report confirmed that Jonathan David will earn €6 million each year at Juventus.

DAVID’S RISE AND JUVENTUS’ PLANS

Jonathan David scored 19 goals and had 4 assists for Lille in the 2024/25 season before leaving on a free transfer. Having been kicked out of the World Cup, Juventus will look to mount challenges on the domestic and European fronts, and expect David to make an impact soon. They lost Fred last weekend to injury, which means David could soon get his first start for the club.

During his time at Lille, David scored 109 goals and provided 30 assists in 232 matches.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR JUVENTUS AND DAVID?

Juventus are in contention on all fronts this season as they start a new campaign under coach Ivan Tudor. The Bianconeri finished last season in 4th place and will aim to improve their performance this season. They will square off against Parma next in Serie A.

A previous report confirmed that Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season.
