Julio Enciso Completes Strasbourg Move With Future Chelsea Role Planned

Julio Enciso, a 21-year-old from Paraguay, has finished his medical in London. He is moving to Strasbourg with a long-term deal. The plan is for him to join Chelsea later.

TRANSFER DETAILS AND WHAT IT MEANS

Strasbourg paid up to €20 million for Enciso. His contract lasts until June 2031, with an extra year possible. The BlueCo group, which owns both Strasbourg and Chelsea, is behind this move. Enciso will play the 2025-26 season in France with manager Liam Rosenior. He is expected to move to Chelsea in 2026. Everyone agrees he could be a long-term player for Chelsea. For now, he is moving directly from Brighton to Strasbourg, as he joins Strasbourg for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. If he does well in France, he will likely join Stamford Bridge.

BIGGER PICTURE: CLUBS AND PLAYER IN FOCUS

Enciso had knee problems at Brighton that kept him off the field in the 2023-24 season. He went on loan to Ipswich Town, where he did well, scoring five times in 13 games. Strasbourg finished last season in 7th place in Ligue 1 and aims to improve with BlueCo’s support. Chelsea wants to return to Champions League football and is betting on young players like Enciso. They paid €20 million, showing their trust in his growth.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR ENCISO, STRASBOURG, AND CHELSEA

Enciso will train with Strasbourg and is expected to be part of Rosenior’s plans. Strasbourg plays next in the Ligue 1 against Nantes. Both teams want to do better than last season. Chelsea next plays West Ham United in the Premier League. They are eighth, having drawn their opener and will want to get the 1st win of the season. Enciso needs a good season in France to earn his Chelsea move and prove himself in English football.
