Julio Enciso Signs For Strasbourg In Permanent Deal
Julio Enciso has moved from Brighton & Hove Albion to Strasbourg with a permanent contract. The 21-year-old Paraguayan attacker joined the French club after playing on loan at Ipswich Town last season.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Strasbourg have completed the signing of Julio Enciso from Brighton, reportedly for €20 million. The contract, part of the BlueCo group ownership structure, runs until June 2031, with an extra year possible. Enciso passed medical tests earlier, and despite some issues, the transfer is now officially done. He will join Strasbourg right away, intending to make a big impact in Ligue 1 this season according to reports.
STRASBOURG’S AMBITIONS AND ENCISO’S ARRIVAL
Strasbourg aim to improve on last season, where they finished 7th in Ligue 1, qualifying for the Europa Conference League. The club seeks to climb higher under new leadership and investment from the BlueCo group. Enciso’s arrival boosts their attack. He has scored five goals and provided six assists for Brighton since joining from Libertad in 2022. Last season, Enciso played 14 times for Ipswich in the Championship, scoring once and adding two assists.
WHAT NEXT FOR ENCISO AND THE CLUB?
Enciso is expected to play a key role for Strasbourg in the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season. The team is currently 6th after three matches, just three points away from the league leaders, which include Lyon and PSG. Strasbourg face a tough match next weekend against Le Havre, who are fighting to stay in France’s top tier, a test that could show how much the team has improved with Enciso’s arrival. His future is also being followed closely, as he might eventually join Chelsea, which is also owned by BlueCo, if he performs well in France as indicated by multiple sources.
