Juma Bah Joins OGC Nice on Loan from Manchester City
OGC Nice have announced the signing of Manchester City defender Juma Bah on a loan deal for the season. The 19-year-old Sierra Leone international will play the entire 2025/26 campaign with the Ligue 1 team to gain valuable experience in French football.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Bah‘s move to Nice comes after a six-month loan with RC Lens where he had a successful spell with 10 Ligue 1 appearances, four clean sheets, 37 recoveries, and 17 interceptions. The center-back attracted interest from Lyon, but Nice’s potential participation in European football was key in his decision to move to the Allianz Riviera, as well as the announcement that, due to financial issues, Lyon will be relegated to the Ligue 2.
The player has signed the required paperwork, and both clubs announced the deal on June 25. Bah’s arrival is a boost for Nice’s coach as the club prepares for crucial Champions League qualifiers.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Bah became one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders following impressive performances for La Liga club Real Valladolid in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign. He is now back on a new loan spell, while French outfit Nice are looking to reinvigorate their squad.
According to a previous report we published, Bah turned down interest from Lyon to move to Nice, as the Ligue 1 side wants to reinforce its defense.
Manchester City will be happy with the progress Bah has been making in Ligue 1 while playing for fellow City Football Group outfit Nice. Meanwhile, the player’s spell at Real Valladolid helped him break into the senior Sierra Leone national team on May 31, 2024. He has remained a regular since then.
WHAT NEXT?
Bah is now settled at a new club and is ready to make a difference for his team as they prepare for the start of the season in 6 weeks’ time.
