Juventus Secure Permanent Signing of Francisco Conceição from Porto

Juventus have finalized the signing of Francisco Conceição from Porto. The deal is worth over €30 million, paid in four installments. Conceição, who was on loan last season, will continue his career in Serie A after impressing with Juventus.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After long negotiations, Juventus and Porto agreed on Conceição‘s permanent move. Porto first wanted the €30 million release clause, but Juventus lowered the upfront fee. Conceição helped by giving up around €3 million he was owed from the sale. Juventus will pay a lower initial fee and add-ons, totaling €25-27 million. Last season, Conceição played 40 games, scored seven goals, and made six assists. He wanted to stay in Turin despite Premier League interest, including from Everton.

JUVENTUS AND CONCEIÇÃO’S IMPACT LAST SEASON

Conceição became important for Juventus, helping them finish fourth in Serie A and qualify for the Champions League. His goals and assists added creativity and speed. Juventus used his direct play in key games, as they improved under the management of Ivan Tudor who came on to replace Thiago Motta as a coach mid-season. In contrast, Porto finished third in the Primeira Liga, 16 points behind Sporting CP, and will play a playoff aiming to reach the Champions League spots.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR JUVENTUS AND CONCEIÇÃO?

The new Serie A season starts with Juventus playing Parma, who finished mid-table last year. Conceição is likely to keep his starting spot on the right wing and play a bigger role as Juventus rebuild under their manager. Without Conceição, Porto must change their attack to return to European competition. With only formalities left, Conceição’s move shows Juventus’ plan for long-term success.
