Juventus Sign Pierre Kalulu from AC Milan for €14m

Juventus have completed the signing of French defender Pierre Kalulu from AC Milan. They triggered the €14 million buy option in his loan deal. The paperwork was finalized yesterday, ending what has been a positive loan spell for Kalulu.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Juventus have made Klau a permanent member of their squad after his season-long loan. They paid a €3.5 million loan fee for his services during the 2024-25 season. There is also a potential bonus of up to €3 million. As part of the deal, Milan will retain a 10% sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kalulu has been a key figure in Juventus’s defence this season. He has garnered the trust of the coaching staff with his versatility, with his ability to operate in different defensive positions particularly valuable for the team.

Juventus are currently battling for a top-four finish in Serie A to secure their qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season. The club sacked Thiago Motta in April and appointed Igor Tudor as his replacement. Tudor’s primary objective has been to guide the team to Europe’s elite competition before the end of the campaign.

KALULU’S JOURNEY

Kalulu spent four seasons at AC Milan and made 84 appearances for the club before leaving on loan. The 2021-22 Scudetto winner fell out of favour under Paulo Fonseca as the manager preferred other defensive options over him. But after making the switch to the Allianz Stadium, Kalulu has slowly re-discovered his true potential and his performances have already justified Juventus’s decision to make his move permanent.

WHAT NEXT FOR JUVENTUS?

Securing Kalulu on a permanent basis fits in well with Juventus’ strategy.

The team is aiming for sustainability while remaining competitive at the highest level. Their strategy includes building a strong core of defensive talent in the squad, with Kalulu set to be a central part of Juventus’s plans moving forward.

With the summer transfer window approaching, the Bianconeri are expected to continue strengthening their squad to return to the upper echelons of both Italian and European football next season.
