Kai Havertz Faces Uncertain Injury Spell as Arsenal Await Further Tests

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club does not yet know how long Kai Havertz will be out after the German midfielder suffered a knee injury. The team is waiting for more tests to understand the full extent of the problem, raising concerns about Havertz’s availability for the coming weeks. As early signs suggest, he might miss upcoming games.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kai Havertz picked up a knee injury during Arsenal’s opening Premier League match against Manchester United. After coming off the bench for about 30 minutes, Havertz experienced discomfort which led club doctors to schedule additional tests to assess the damage. Manager Mikel Arteta told reporters that he cannot provide a timeline for Havertz’s return and stressed that the club needs more time and further tests before making any decisions about his recovery.

ARSENAL’S CURRENT SITUATION

The injury comes just as Havertz was regaining fitness following a lengthy layoff last season with a hamstring issue. Arsenal have made several moves this summer, including the major signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres for €63 million. Last year, Havertz played 36 matches across all competitions but missed a large part of the season due to injury. Arsenal finished the 2024/25 Premier League season as runners-up, narrowly missing out on the title.

Looking ahead, Arsenal face a busy schedule. They host Leeds United next in the league, followed by tough matches away at Liverpool and at home against Nottingham Forest. Leeds also won their opener against Everton, as Arsenal arrives to the 2nd match having won 1-0 at Old Trafford. Their next big game is against Liverpool at Anfield after hosting Leeds United.

LOOKING AHEAD: WHAT’S NEXT FOR HAVERTZ AND ARSENAL?

There is concern Havertz could be sidelined for several weeks, or even months, depending on scan results. His absence places extra focus on new signing Gyokeres and the rest of Arsenal’s attacking options as the club starts a demanding run of fixtures, including their return to the Champions League group stage next month. Following Havertz’s injury, a report indicated that Arsenal may sign a new player if his condition is severe, and the club’s medical team and fans alike will be watching closely for an official update, as Arsenal’s depth will be tested in these crucial early-season weeks.
