Keith Andrews Appointed as Brentford’s New Head Coach

Brentford has announced Keith Andrews as their new head coach. Andrews has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League side. The club looks to build on recent successes and remain competitive in the top flight.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Keith Andrews has been promoted to head coach from his role as Brentford‘s set-piece coach. Andrews joined Brentford in July 2024 and replaces Thomas Frank. Frank left the club after seven years. Andrews is highly regarded within the club for his impact on training and match preparation. The new head coach is an internal promotion, as was the case with Frank. Brentford returns to league action on August 17 at Nottingham Forest.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Promoting from within has worked well for Brentford in the past, so the hope is that Andrews will be a success story similar to Frank’s. Andrews inherits a Brentford team that finished in midtable last season. His backroom staff ranks have been denuded by most of Frank’s key coaches going to Tottenham with him.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR BRENTFORD?

Brentford is close to signing Rodolfo Borrell as assistant manager on a three-year contract. Borrell is currently Sporting KC head coach and was previously Pep Guardioula’s assistant at Manchester City. Brentford are hopeful of hiring Borrell soon. They are currently focused on preseason under Andrews, preparing for the new season.
