Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall Set for Everton Medical After Agreeing £29m Move From Chelsea

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is about to join Everton after the team made a deal with Chelsea worth up to £29 million. The 26-year-old midfielder will have his medical exam on Tuesday, moving him closer to becoming Everton’s fifth summer signing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Everton agreed to sign Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea for an initial fee of £25 million, which could rise to £29 million with add-ons. After helping Leicester City win the Championship, Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea last summer but had limited playing time at Stamford Bridge, starting only two Premier League matches in the 2024/25 season. With departures in the midfield, manager David Moyes prioritized a new No 8 to strengthen the squad, making Dewsbury-Hall a primary target for the club. His move follows a challenging year at Chelsea where he made just 258 Premier League minutes despite featuring in 36 appearances across all competitions.

WHY THIS TRANSFER MATTERS

Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer comes after limited first-team opportunities at Chelsea due to high competition. His exceptional performances at Leicester, where he played a central role in their promotion, earned him a move to Chelsea for £30 million, but he never secured a regular place under the new manager. For Everton, the acquisition of Dewsbury-Hall follows earlier signings, including striker Thierno Barry, midfielder Charly Alcaraz, defender Adam Aznou, and goalkeeper Mark Travers. Moyes has spent over £75 million this summer to improve Everton’s squad after last season’s mid-table finish. Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer has been confirmed to be part of Everton’s effort to secure a more competitive team ahead of the new campaign.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR EVERTON?

Everton are warming up for the new Premier League season starting next weekend. The club finished 13th in the Premier League last season, ending the year with 46 points. Everton aspire to reach the top half of the standings after significant investment in the summer transfer window. They are scheduled to face Leeds United in their opening match, who got promoted from the Championship last season and are considered direct competitors in the league. Every point will be precious as Everton aims to narrow the gap to the top ten and avoid another relegation battle.
