Kostas Tsimikas Arrives In Rome To Complete AS Roma Loan Move

Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas has arrived in Rome to complete his move to AS Roma. He is joining on loan from Liverpool until June 2026, as confirmed by recent reports.

TSIMIKAS SET FOR ROMA AFTER LIVERPOOL FAREWELL

Tsimikas has said farewell to Liverpool, where he spent five seasons after arriving from Olympiacos in 2020. He will have medical tests in Rome before signing with AS Roma. The loan will last two seasons, and Roma will cover his full salary. Initially, Liverpool didn’t want to let Tsimikas leave on loan, but the two clubs reached an agreement. Roma won’t have the option to buy Tsimikas at the end of the loan.

WHERE HE FITS IN AT ROMA

Tsimikas is expected to compete with Angelino for the left wing-back spot in Gian Piero Gasperini’s 3-4-3 system. Roma had defensive problems in the first games of the Serie A season and are looking at adding depth as they want to improve last season’s 5th place finish and move deep in the Europa League. The club hopes that Tsimikas, who only played 10 Premier League matches for Liverpool last season, can provide experience and stability, especially since he struggled to surpass Andy Robertson in Liverpool’s lineup.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR ROMA AND LIVERPOOL?

Roma’s next game is against Pisa, who drew their opener at Atalanta, last season’s 3rd placed team in the Serie A. With a win, Roma could move into the European qualification spots. A loss could drop them to mid-table. At Liverpool, Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson will cover the left-back position as they face Arsenal in their next match. Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League, level on points with both Tottenham and Arsenal, so squad depth will be key as the season progresses.
