Kyle Walker to Rejoin Manchester City after AC Milan Loan Ends

Kyle Walker is set to return to Manchester City this summer. AC Milan decided not to make his loan move permanent. Walker joined Milan in January but won’t be part of City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. Now, he will look for a new team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Walker spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at AC Milan, after eight successful years at Manchester City. Milan had the option to keep him but chose not to. This means Walker will return to City this summer. However, City have decided not to include the 34-year-old in their FIFA Club World Cup squad. This has led to talks with other clubs about his future.

WALKER’S SEASON IN REVIEW

This season, Walker fell out of favor at Manchester City before moving to Milan on loan. He lost his starting spot at City late in 2024 due to poor form. But he left on good terms after winning 17 trophies with the team, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2023. At Milan, Walker became a regular starter and helped strengthen their defense. Milan finished third in Serie A, earning a Champions League spot. But they decided not to keep Walker permanently due to his high salary. Meanwhile, City retained their Premier League crown, finishing first ahead of Arsenal.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR WALKER?

Walker will not take part in Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign. Several clubs are already in talks to sign him for the 2025/26 season. As the transfer window opens, the England international is expected to soon choose his next team. Manchester City’s next match is the Premier League season opener, while Milan are focused on adding new players for another Champions League run. Although his future is uncertain, there is strong interest in Walker, who brings leadership and experience in European competition.
