Lafc Make Ambitious Move For Heung-Min Son

Los Angeles FC wants to sign South Korean forward Heung-min Son as their big star. They hope to add him before the second half of the 2025 Major League Soccer season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

LAFC has asked Son Heung-min about moving this summer. Talks have just started. The MLS team wants Son as their new star for 2025 and later. Son, 33 years old, had a good season with Tottenham Hotspur where he finally won a big trophy, the UEFA Europa League, after failing many times before. LAFC wants to offer a good deal to Son and Tottenham as the North American league’s summer transfer window begins this week. Tottenham have qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

WHY SON IS A PRIME TARGET

Son is one of the best footballers in Asia. He is also Tottenham’s main player, especially after they lost Harry Kane. During the 2023/24 season, Son scored key goals and assisted in Spurs’ fourth place Premier League finish, getting back to the Champions League. Reports confirm that Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League last season, but they have qualified for Europe and are in a position to retain key players like Son. LAFC thinks signing him will thrill fans and improve the club’s image globally. Tottenham’s new coach, Thomas Frank, is also expected to talk to Son soon about his future. That conversation can greatly affect the final choice. Currently, no agreements are reached as talks go on.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The MLS summer transfer window is open, and LAFC seeks to make a strong move by enhancing their team for the season’s end. At present, LAFC is second in the Western Conference, trailing Seattle Sounders by two points and leading Real Salt Lake by three points. They play the San Jose Earthquakes next on July 27, who are in fifth place, seven points less than LAFC. Meanwhile, Tottenham is getting ready for the new Premier League season and wants to keep Son, but Thomas Frank’s talk with him soon could be key for both teams. As reported, Tottenham refused to start talks with Atlético Madrid for Cristian Romero, indicating they are focused on strengthening their squad without letting key players leave.
