Lamine Yamal Says Fermín López Had No Interest in Chelsea Move
Lamine Yamal has made it clear that Fermín López never planned to leave Barcelona for Chelsea, even after talks of a major bid from the English club in the summer transfer window. According to reports, Barcelona will not sell Fermín López despite Chelsea’s interest.
WHAT HAPPENED?
During a recent interview with Spanish TV, Yamal shared how he and his Barcelona teammates joked with Fermín about moving to England after hearing rumors of a £50 million bid from Chelsea. According to Yamal, Fermín simply laughed off the idea, making it clear to his friends that he was happy at Barcelona and had no desire to leave the Spanish champions. Additionally, he has publicly expressed that he will not leave Barcelona amid transfer rumors linking him with England.
Despite strong interest from Chelsea, and some reports linking Manchester United as well, López had no intention of making the switch this summer.
BARCELONA’S SEASON SO FAR
Barcelona have started their La Liga title defense with determination, currently sitting third after three matches, just two points behind Real Madrid and Athletic Club. Fermín López, aged 22, has featured in all three games so far, providing energy and versatility in midfield. He has not registered a goal yet this season, but his performances have repeatedly been praised by Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.
Lamine Yamal, still just 18, continues to make an impact on the wing. Together, the young players remain central to Barça’s immediate plans as the club looks to reclaim the top spot.
WHAT NEXT FOR BARÇA AND FERMÍN?
Barcelona next face Valencia after the international break. Valencia are currently 9th with four points from three matches.
With the transfer speculation behind him, Fermín López is expected to play an important role as Flick’s squad prepares for a busy period that also includes their first Champions League group stage match next week. Both Fermín and his teammates now turn their focus to keeping up the pressure on their title rivals and advancing in Europe.
