Las Palmas Sign Milos Luković on Loan from Strasbourg
Las Palmas have signed Serbian striker Milos Luković from Strasbourg on a season-long loan. He will have his medical on Thursday. The team wants to improve their attack before the new season in Spain’s second division.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Luković, 19, spent last season on loan at Dutch club Heerenveen, scoring three goals in 13 Eredivisie appearances. An academy graduate of IMT Belgrade, where he scored 38 goals in three seasons before joining Strasbourg, Luković made just two appearances for the Ligue 1 side and was sent out on loan to gain first-team experience.
Now, Las Palmas, whose only goal in pre-season came from a defender amid the struggles of their forward line, are set to land the 6’3″ tall forward, who can be more than a handful for defenders in the Segunda Division.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Las Palmas have undergone a complete squad revamp, with Luković set to be the club’s 10th new arrival since the end of last season. They are determined to return to La Liga at the first attempt, having been relegated on the final day of the last campaign after finishing 18th.
While there may be more new signings on the way, including a new goalkeeper, the club would also have to sell some of their current players to balance the books. For the Serbian, this could be the chance to break into the spotlight on a bigger stage than either Dutch or Belgian top flights and make a name for himself and slot his way into the plans of his parent club.
WHAT NEXT FOR LAS PALMAS AND LUKOVIĆ?
Las Palmas begin their 2025-26 season when they host Andorra on Sunday for the League opener. The goal will be to gain promotion back to La Liga as soon as possible, and the team hopes that Luković will be the attacking threat needed to reach the season’s objectives.
