WHAT HAPPENED?

Leeds United won 6-0 against Stoke City, with Joel Piroe scoring four goals. This victory put them at the top of the Championship with 94 points. Shortly after, Burnley beat third-placed Sheffield United 2-1, thanks to Josh Brownhill’s two goals. CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON SO FAR

Leeds United’s promotion is a quick comeback after their 2023 relegation. Under manager Daniel Farke, they’ve shown strong form and consistency. Leeds lead the Championship by goal difference, with Burnley close behind. Scott Parker’s Burnley have also bounced back quickly after last season’s relegation. Both teams have played attacking football and defended well, setting a strong foundation for their return to the top flight. Sheffield United, among others, will now compete for promotion through the playoffs.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR LEEDS AND BURNLEY?

With promotion secured, Leeds United and Burnley will now fight for the Championship title in their last two matches. Leeds face a challenging test next, while Burnley aims to finish strong. Their focus is now on keeping momentum and getting ready for the tough Premier League season ahead. Meanwhile, Sheffield United will compete in the play-offs, battling strong rivals like Sunderland, Bristol City, Coventry, Middlesbrough, Millwall, and Blackburn for the last promotion spot. Only a few points separate these teams with two games left.
