Lewandowski dreams of 100 Barca goals
What happened?
Robert Lewandowski has revealed his ambition to reach 100 goals for Barcelona after another impressive performance in the team’s 4-1 victory over Girona. The Polish striker netted a brace in the match, bringing his total for Barcelona to 97 goals across all competitions since joining the club in 2022.
“Reaching 100 goals for Barca is one of the goals. It’s clear. It’s a dream,” Lewandowski stated after the game. “We still have a lot of games left. We want to play in the Copa del Rey final, the Champions League, La Liga… For me, the most important thing is what I contribute collectively to the team.”
At 36 years old, Lewandowski continues to defy expectations and lead Barcelona’s attack. He currently tops the La Liga scoring charts with 25 goals, three ahead of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe. Across all competitions this season, Lewandowski has netted an impressive 40 goals for club and country.
Addressing questions about his age, Lewandowski insisted: “People talk about my age, but I know I’m working as hard as I always have. I want to play at the highest level for a few more years. I feel in excellent physical condition. There’s no difference between where I was a few years ago and where I am now, stat-wise.”
Barcelona currently sit three points clear at the top of La Liga. Their next match is a Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid on April 2, where Lewandowski will look to edge closer to his 100-goal target while helping the team pursue multiple trophies this season. The match is tied as the 1st leg ended with an impressive 4-4 draw between the teams.
What’s next for Barcelona?
Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final on April 2. Manager Hansi Flick may consider rotating his attacking options given the team’s busy schedule, but Lewandowski is expected to play a key role as the club continues to compete for honors in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League.
