Liverpool Close In On Milos Kerkez Deal
Liverpool are close to signing 21-year-old left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. This would be their second big signing this summer as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bournemouth to sign Milos Kerkez. They are now discussing personal terms with the player, who wants to join. The transfer fee is still being negotiated, but the deal is expected to happen soon.
Kerkez joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. He has played 72 games, scored two goals, and provided eight assists. His signing follows the addition of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as Liverpool aim to strengthen their full-back positions.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Liverpool has won the 2024-25 Premier League season, but have failed to be competitive in any other competition this season. They have secured a spot in the next Champions League season and will face Crystal Palace in the 2025 Community Shield.
The signing of Kerkez is part of a rebuilding effort, with current left-back Andy Robertson nearing his peak and Kostas Tsimikas likely to leave after failing to have the expected progression since joining Liverpool. Kerkez has been impressive at Bournemouth and his strong partnership with Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for the Hungarian national team has made him a key target.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Liverpool will look to quickly incorporate Kerkez into their pre-season plans, with the Community Shield against Crystal Palace as their first competitive fixture in August. Crystal Palace finished twelfth in the Premier League, earning a spot in Europe thanks to their FA Cup win and posing a tough test for Liverpool.
With Kerkez expected to arrive and Frimpong’s contract almost complete, Liverpool are building depth to fight for the title in the upcoming season. The focus may now shift to resolving Kostas Tsimikas’s future and monitoring other potential departures or arrivals during the transfer window.
