Liverpool Nearing Major Signing as Hugo Ekitike Deal Moves Closer

Liverpool are close to signing French striker Hugo Ekitike in a big transfer deal. Final negotiations are happening to secure the Eintracht Frankfurt forward for a reported €90 million fee. Liverpool have officially offered to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Liverpool have offered €90 million (£78 million) to Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike. Both clubs have a basic agreement. Liverpool are preparing to outbid Newcastle for Hugo Ekitike, and they could complete one of the biggest deals of the summer. Ekitike wants to join the Premier League and has prioritized Liverpool. He chose them over other teams like Newcastle United, whose offer was rejected by Frankfurt. Talks are progressing quickly, so the transfer could be completed soon.

LIVERPOOL’S TRANSFER PRIORITIES AND SQUAD OUTLOOK

Signing Ekitike is important for Liverpool to strengthen their attack following Diogo Jota’s loss. The team has already signed Florian Wirtz for midfield, Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, and Milos Kerkez at left-back, focusing on a top-class striker. Ekitike had a breakout season with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 matches last season, making him one of Europe’s most wanted young forwards. Liverpool finished last season as Premier League champions, ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in 2nd and 3rd respectively, and are preparing for next month’s Community Shield match against Crystal Palace, who won the FA Cup last season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL AND FRANKFURT?

With personal terms almost agreed and medical exams likely soon, Ekitike could join Liverpool before the preseason ends. For Eintracht Frankfurt, this deal could potentially exceed their previous record sale of Randal Kolo Muani and would be a financial boost. However, they need to quickly find another striker before the Bundesliga starts. Liverpool fans are hopeful that Ekitike’s arrival will help them defend their domestic title and make progress in the Champions League this season.
