Liverpool Striker Diogo Jota and Brother Tragically Killed in Spanish Car Accident
Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota was killed along with his brother, Andre, in a Spanish car crash late on Tuesday evening. The 28-year-old, who leaves behind his wife and three children, lost control of his Lamborghini on the A-52 highway in the Zamora region while attempting to overtake a lorry, according to initial reports from Spain. The car reportedly crashed and burst into flames before catching fire with the 2016 European champion still trapped inside.

It’s reported that the car was travelling at a speed of 250 kilometres per hour when the accident occurred. Both Jota and his 26-year-old brother, who was in the passenger seat, were confirmed to have died on the spot. Jota, who only recently got married, spent the last few years of his career in the Premier League playing for Liverpool, making 182 appearances for the Reds. He joined the club from Wolves in 2020 and went on to win one Premier League title with Jurgen Klopp’s men and most recently another with Arne Slot. He was also part of the Portugal squad that won Euro 2016.
