Loïs Openda Arrives In Turin To Complete Juventus Transfer
Loïs Openda is ready to join Juventus. He arrived in Turin today to complete his medical tests and sign his contract with the team. The Belgian forward will be announced as a Juventus player soon after they agreed to a deal with RB Leipzig.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Juventus and RB Leipzig have agreed on the transfer of 25-year-old Loïs Openda. He will join on loan, and the move will be made permanent later. Reports confirm that Juventus have made an offer to Leipzig to take Openda on loan with an obligation to buy for €40 million, including the loan fee and bonuses. Juventus tried to bring back Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain before signing Openda. However, when that deal was blocked, they moved quickly to complete a deal for Openda before the transfer window closed.
SEASON SO FAR FOR TEAM AND PLAYER
Juventus have enjoyed a strong start to the 2025-26 Serie A season. They currently sit top in the league after winning 6 points from two matches, one of only 4 teams to do so, alongside AS Roma, Cremonese and current champions Napoli. Openda scored 41 goals in 92 games for Leipzig and was among the most consistent strikers in the Bundesliga. Last season he scored 17 league goals and provided another six assists in 2024-25 to help his team finish seventh. He also played in 27 matches for the Belgian national team, scoring three goals. Openda addresses a key issue for Juventus, who have struggled for a consistent striker since Dusan Vlahovic lost his consistency.
WHAT NEXT FOR JUVENTUS AND OPONDA
Openda is expected to complete his medical and sign his contract with Juventus today. If the deal goes through, Openda could be handed his Juventus debut as soon as next weekend when Juventus take on Bologna, who are currently the Coppa Italia holders, and sit three points behind in the standings. This match will be crucial, as both teams are near the top of the table. Openda’s pace and finishing are seen as key assets to help Juventus challenge Napoli, Inter and AS Roma for the title. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig are set to bring in Conrad Harder from Sporting CP to replace Openda and will look to continue their competitiveness in the Bundesliga, where they currently sit in the upper half of the table with three points from two matches.
