Luis Diaz Signs for Bayern Munich in €75 Million Move from Liverpool

Luis Diaz is now a Bayern Munich player. He signed a four-year deal after the German giants paid Liverpool €75 million for him. The Colombian winger is thrilled to join one of the world’s biggest clubs and is eager to contribute to his new team. Diaz has agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich, which includes a contract until 2029 with wages of €14 million per year, as reported on Fabrizio.news.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern Munich made the deal official on Wednesday after Liverpool agreed to release Diaz. The 28-year-old joined Vincent Kompany’s team, which needed attacking reinforcements after losing Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Mathys Tel, among others, this summer. Reports indicate that Thomas Müller’s contract has expired and was not renewed for the upcoming season. Diaz had been with Liverpool for three-and-a-half years before his move.

DIAZ’S IMPACT AT LIVERPOOL AND BAYERN’S PLANS

During the 2024/25 season, Diaz was a regular starter for Liverpool, scoring 12 goals and assisting in six others in 51 games in all competitions. He was Liverpool’s second-highest scorer last season with 11 league goals and 7 assists. Kompany and sporting director Max Eberl hope that Diaz’s direct style of play can help the defending champions. Bayern starts the season at the top, and will play RB Leipzig, who finished 7th last season, in their opening fixture.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BAYERN AND LIVERPOOL?

Bayern Munich will try to integrate Diaz into the side immediately, keeping in mind that Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund remain strong in the standings. Minutes for the Colombian might be limited, but his impact will be measured with long-term sustainability in mind. Liverpool, meanwhile, face a challenge in replacing one of their key wide players, as manager Arne Slot gets ready for their Premier League opener against Bournemouth. According to reports, Liverpool are considering signing Alexander Isak after losing significant attacking players and plan to pair him with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah in attack.
