Luis Diaz Speaks About Future Amid Transfer Talk

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz has spoken about his future. He says he’s talking to other clubs but is happy at Liverpool right now.

WHAT HAPPENED?

While with Colombia’s national team, Diaz revealed he’s talking to other clubs during the summer. The 28-year-old’s Liverpool contract ends in two years. He says he’s “very happy” at Liverpool and is open to staying until his contract ends. “I’m very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome,” Diaz said.

TRANSFER INTEREST GROWS

Barcelona wanted Diaz, but Liverpool said no. Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia is also interested. Liverpool does not want to sell Diaz. He was important in their Premier League title win last season, scoring 13 goals and making five assists. Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for £49 million. He has scored 41 goals in 148 games for Liverpool. He has won a Premier League, an FA Cup, and two League Cups.

LIVERPOOL’S CONFUSING POSITION

Liverpool’s view on Diaz is confusing. Reports suggest the club is surprised by the rumors of Diaz leaving. They say they do not want to sell him but have also not offered him a new contract. This leaves the situation unclear. Liverpool might take a big offer for Diaz even though they are not looking to sell. If they do not renew his contract, he might leave for free in 2027.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR DIAZ?

The situation is at a turning point. Diaz has said he is happy to stay or go. “If Liverpool doesn’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there,” he said, adding, “everything depends on them obviously, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for us and the future.”

Liverpool must decide soon. They can either renew his contract or sell him this summer. As of now, Liverpool is at the top of the Premier League table with 89 points after winning last season, six points ahead of Manchester City.

Diaz will play for Colombia in the Copa America starting June 20. Liverpool is preparing for a pre-season tour in the United States in July, where they will play Arsenal, Manchester United, and Real Madrid in friendlies.
