Luka Jović Signs With AEK Athens Until 2027

Luka Jović has signed a contract with AEK Athens until June 2027. This is a big move for the Greek club before the new Super League season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Serbian striker joined AEK Athens after leaving AC Milan as a free agent when his contract ended in June. Although Real Oviedo from Spain showed interest and talked with Jović, he chose AEK Athens. The club’s director, Ribalta, helped finalize the deal. Reports of Jović moving to Oviedo were not realistic as he wanted to play in the Greek league and there was a considerable salary difference. He is expected in Athens today, with all formalities done and a three-year deal signed.

AEK ATHENS REINFORCE FOR THE NEW SEASON

Jović joins AEK Athens when they need him most. The Greek team finished fourth in the Super League last season, 5 points from PAOK, 6 from Panathinaikos and 22 from champions Olympiacos. They are determined to win the title this season, and Jović could be their key player in that pursuit. Jović has experience at top clubs like Real Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Fiorentina, as well as his recent spell in Serie A with AC Milan.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR JOVIĆ AND AEK ATHENS?

AEK Athens will begin their Super League campaign against newly-promoted Panserraikos later this month, after playing their Conference League qualifiers against Aris Limassol from Cyprus. Jović will be eager to make an impact leading AEK Athens’ attack as they target a domestic and potentially continental challenge this season. Recently, he has also been considering a formal offer from Cruz Azul, indicating interest from other clubs as well according to reports but decided against the move due to family reasons.
