Negotiations with Leverkusen focused on settling the transfer fee, as Hrádecký’s contract was set to expire next summer. MONACO’S GOALKEEPER SEARCH AND SEASON SO FAR

Monaco have been looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department after last season’s mixed results. Monaco finished third in Ligue 1, achieving direct Champions League spots for the upcoming season. Consistency at the back was seen as an issue, and adding Hrádecký’s experience is a clear move to address this. The Finn is known for his leadership and reliability, and his arrival could provide stability ahead of a new campaign.

WHAT NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?

Hrádecký is expected to complete his move in the coming days and will likely become Monaco’s starting goalkeeper when the new Ligue 1 season kicks off. Monaco’s first league match is against Le Havre, a team that battled relegation last season. Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, enter the Bundesliga season under new leadership in goal, with Mark Flekken stepping in. Leverkusen’s squad is undergoing significant changes, after losing key players including Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong this summer, as well as seeing Granit Xhaka seeking a move abroad.
