Malik Tillman Nearing €40m Move to Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen are close to signing Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven. The two clubs are finalizing the agreement, and the deal is expected to be around €35–40 million.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayer Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven are in the final stages of negotiations for Malik Tillman. Only minor details are left before the deal is done. Tillman has agreed to a five-year contract with Leverkusen, and the clubs are finalizing the payment structure.

The transfer fee is expected to be around €35–40 million, matching Tillman’s release clause at PSV.

TILLMAN’S RISE AND PSV PERFORMANCE

Tillman, 23, joined PSV from Bayern Munich in 2024 after an initial loan. Despite missing games due to injury last season, he was key in PSV’s consecutive Eredivisie titles. He scored 12 league goals in his debut season, contributing to 19 goals overall. He has tallied 25 goals and 16 assists in 73 games for PSV. Internationally, Tillman is performing well for the USMNT at the Gold Cup, scoring three goals in three matches.

IMPACT ON LEVERKUSEN AND WHAT’S NEXT

Leverkusen, who were Bundesliga champions in 2023–24 and runners-up last season, are in a rebuilding phase after selling Florian Wirtz to Liverpool. Tillman’s signing will strengthen their midfield under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich, and aim to close that gap in the upcoming season. Their first league match is against Union Berlin, who finished 10th. Leverkusen will aim to reclaim the top spot in Germany while PSV will have to defend their Eredivisie title without one of their key players.
