Manchester City Ready to Secure Savinho with New Long-Term Contract

Manchester City are set to extend the contract of Brazilian winger Savinho with a new deal running until June 2031, as confirmed by club manager Pep Guardiola. Reports indicate that the club is close to finalising this long-term contract extension for Savinho, highlighting their commitment to retaining young talent according to recent updates.

GUARDIOLA SHARES HIS VIEWS

Pep Guardiola confirmed that the contract paperwork for Savinho is nearly complete. He highlighted the club’s desire to keep the young Brazilian, stating, “We were so clear we wanted to keep him… Maybe the offer was not good enough for the club.” Guardiola praised Savinho’s performances last season, saying, “At his age, last season he played a lot, can play on both sides, has pace that is unbelievable. He’s very good!” The manager’s words show the high value Manchester City place on Savinho’s talent and potential.

SAVINHO’S IMPACT AT CITY

Last season, Savinho endeared himself to fans and thickened the club’s resolve to have him play more minutes of first-team football on the back of his initial breakthrough in the previous campaign before being shipped out on loan to Girona. Savinho contributed three goals and eight assists across 48 appearances in all competitions last season, a performance that reflects his growing importance in the squad as noted by several reports.

Able to play effectively on both sides of the attack, his pace and direct style brought a new dimension to City’s attacks. In the current campaign, he has continued to earn minutes – scoring three goals in all competitions and providing two assists. City remain in strong form this season, sitting 7th in the Premier League table with two wins in their last two matches.

LOOKING AHEAD FOR CLUB AND PLAYER

The new contract will keep him at the club until 2031, and expectations for his development are high.

Manchester City’s next fixture is against AS Monaco for the Champions League before facing Brentford for the Premier League ahead of the international break, where a win could see them move closer to the top of the standings, depending on Arsenal’s result. All eyes will be on Savinho as he aims to justify Guardiola’s faith in the matches to come.
