Manchester City Set to Loan Out Juma Bah This Summer

Manchester City plan to loan out young defender Juma Bah for the 2025-26 season. Spanish side Girona and other clubs are possible options.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Juma Bah, 19, was on loan at French club RC Lens last season after joining Manchester City from Real Valladolid. He fit in well in Ligue 1, starting in Lens’ central defense. With his loan over, Manchester City want another loan move to help him grow. Girona, who finished third in La Liga, might be his next stop. Other clubs are also in the running, including past interest from English clubs like Leeds United and Southampton.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bah has improved a lot recently. The Sierra Leone international debuted in senior international football in May 2024. His play in France drew attention from top European leagues. Manchester City want him to play regularly elsewhere for his development, as they have a strong defense. Girona, part of the City Football Group, could be a good choice. Leeds and Southampton offer a chance for Premier League or Championship play. RC Lens are unlikely to keep him, even though they need players after finishing eighth in Ligue 1.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Bah plans to select his new loan club before pre-season starts in July. Manchester City are getting ready for their next season after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title. They will start their season against newly-promoted Ipswich Town. Girona, entering the Champions League for the first time, could offer Bah domestic and European competition if he joins them. City will watch Bah’s progress closely, hoping to make him a first-team player in the future.
