Manchester United and Aston Villa in Ongoing Talks for Jadon Sancho and Emi Martínez

Manchester United and Aston Villa are talking as the transfer deadline nears. They’re discussing a possible loan for Jadon Sancho and also negotiating about goalkeeper Emi Martínez.

SANCHO’S FUTURE IN BALANCE

Aston Villa want to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on loan. Sancho, now 25, is in his contract’s last year, but United can extend it by a year. He was loaned to Chelsea last season, where he helped the team win the Europa Conference League, but that deal didn’t become permanent. Despite interest from European clubs and teams in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, Sancho wants to stay in the Premier League. Villa hope he can revive his career like Marcus Rashford did last season at the club. However, time is running out and negotiations are tight as both sides try to reach an agreement. Reports indicate that Aston Villa are in intense talks about Jadon Sancho.

EMI MARTÍNEZ ALSO LINKED WITH UNITED

Manchester United also want Aston Villa’s top goalkeeper Emi Martínez. While they’ve talked to Martínez’s team, no official bids to Villa have been made. Villa don’t want to sell Martínez, who is regarded as a crucial player for them under Unai Emery, but may be compelled if he forces a transfer. Aston Villa has approached Royal Antwerp for young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens as they monitor their options in the transfer market. Negotiations regarding Martínez are still in early stages and are a separate process from the Sancho talks.

RECENT FORM AND WHAT’S AT STAKE

Manchester United ended last season in fifteenth place and aim to return to the Champions League. However, they have started the season slowly and are currently sitting in middle of the Premier League table, struggling with their attack and inconsistency at goal as they search for improvements in the final days of the transfer window. Aston Villa impressed with a sixth-place finish last season, qualifying for the Europa League after a last day loss at Old Trafford. They’ve fought hard for a strong start this season, staying in the European mix. Villa’s next match is against Everton, last season’s close rivals, making it an important fixture in the fight for European spots. United will face Manchester City next, hoping to complete transfers to strengthen the squad before that game.
