Manchester United Boosted by Returns Ahead of Chelsea Clash

Manchester United will have Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount back for their big Premier League game against Chelsea. Manager Rúben Amorim confirmed their availability.

KEY PLAYERS RETURN FROM INJURY

Cunha and Mount are back from injury just in time for the Chelsea match on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Their return is a relief for United, who have been struggling with squad depth.

Amorim said both players will be in the matchday squad and could even start. Their presence might change the dynamics in midfield and attack, exciting the United fans.

UNITED’S SEASON SO FAR

Manchester United’s season has been inconsistent so far. They are currently 13th in the Premier League table, with 4 points from four matches. The team has struggled for creativity, which Mount and Cunha could provide. Chelsea are just above them in fifth place, setting up an early important fixture. Cunha is expected to bring added firepower, having scored 12 Premier League goals and provided 7 assists in the 2024/25 season.

United’s top scorer Rasmus Højlund, left for Napoli and goals have been hard to come by lately. The return of Cunha and Mount is expected to boost United’s attack, with Mount yet to score in two league appearances before injury.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT

Saturday’s match against Chelsea at Old Trafford could prove important for both teams’ ambitions of finishing in the Champions League spots. Chelsea are unbeaten in their league campaign but have drawn two of them.

The Blues will start the match just above United in the table, and a win for either side could move them into better positions in the standings, depending on other results. With crucial points on the line and key players back from injury, United’s squad looks stronger.
