Manchester United Boss Rúben Amorim Open to Sancho, Antony, and Garnacho Return
Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim says he is ready to welcome Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho back into the squad. Transfer uncertainty surrounds the trio’s futures at Old Trafford.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Speaking about rumored exits, Amorim made it clear that Sancho, Antony, and Garnacho will remain with the team unless the club receives satisfactory transfer offers. He said: “If they reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players. If the club doesn’t get the right price, they will stay. I am ready to receive the players.” This comes as Manchester United reviews multiple summer transfer options but has yet to secure sales for the three wingers. The club is actively offloading several players this transfer window.
MANCHESTER UNITED’S 2025 SITUATION
Manchester United finished last Premier League season in 15th place, missing out on European competitions qualification. Under Amorim, the club has been working to rebuild after a difficult campaign. Their attacking output has been inconsistent. In the 2024/25 season, Sancho saw limited action during his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, while Antony and Garnacho had mixed performances as well, often in and out of the starting eleven, with Antony finding his best form in the 2nd part of the season, when he was loaned out to Betis and reached the Conference League final. United have also been active in the summer transfer window; the club has been eyeing reinforcements for both midfield and attack but is facing challenges in offloading high-earners and out-of-favor players who have yet to draw concrete interest from other clubs. In particular, Garnacho has seen his asking price lowered from £70 million to about £40 million.
WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO, ANTONY AND GARNACHO?
Manchester United’s pre-season preparations are underway, with the Premier League set to start in mid-August. Their first league match will be against Arsenal, who finished 2nd last season and have just confirmed the signing of Amorim’s former star striker, Gyokeres. Amorim’s willingness to reintegrate Sancho, Antony, and Garnacho could be crucial if transfer negotiations stall or if the club struggles to find replacements in the market. Dropping wages or settling for loans might be considered alternatives if sales cannot be agreed upon but for now, the players remain part of Amorim’s plans as the squad gets ready for a vital season opener.
