Manchester United Reject Onana West Ham Loan Rumours

Reports of André Onana possibly moving to West Ham on loan are being dismissed. There have been no talks between the clubs. Onana is committed to Manchester United, despite rumors about his future and the possible arrival of Senne Lammens, who Manchester United are close to signing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, some sources said West Ham was trying to sign Manchester United‘s André Onana on loan. The 29-year-old has not played in United’s first two Premier League games this season due to a decision to maintain team balance, which led to more speculation about his future at Old Trafford. However, insiders now say West Ham is not interested in Onana before the transfer deadline. They are looking at other goalkeepers instead.

There have been no talks between the clubs, and Onana is not planning to leave. Meanwhile, Manchester United is still negotiating for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens. His arrival wouldn’t mean Onana has to leave the squad.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manchester United began the 2025-26 Premier League season with mixed results. Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayındır has stepped in for Onana, but although Bayındır is good with his feet, he struggles with crosses, worrying fans and staff. United is in the bottom half of the table after two games, with one draw and one loss from their two opening matches.

Onana, who played 42 times last season and kept 14 clean sheets, is expected to start when United host Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round. West Ham is currently bottom in the Premier League, with two losses in two matches, and preparing to face Nottingham Forest next.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ONANA AND UNITED?

With no loan on the way, Onana is expected to regain his starting spot soon. The club is waiting for Senne Lammens’s transfer to finish, but he will be a backup for now. United plays Grimsby Town next in the Carabao Cup, aiming to gain momentum before facing Burnley in the league.

West Ham is focused on other goalkeeper options and will look elsewhere as they prepare for an important match against Nottingham Forest. Nottingham is in the top half, with one win and one draw so far this season and will be the favourites, especially as they play at home. As the transfer window nears its end, Manchester United’s goalkeeper situation is stable, and Onana remains committed to the club despite his omission from the starting lineup so far this season, as he plans to stay at Manchester United next season.
