Manchester United Set Sights on New Striker After Bryan Mbeumo Deal

Manchester United want to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window. This is after they got Bryan Mbeumo, as they look to rebuild their attack following a poor season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After completing the Bryan Mbeumo transfer, United are now looking to add a top striker to their squad in the coming weeks. Some key players including Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony are set to leave the club, which will provide them highly important funds for this move.

United struggled in attack last season and are deeply in need of a lethal frontman. Many strikers have been linked including former RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, who scored 21 goals and managed six assists in 45 games last season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, currently a free agent after leaving Everton, is also among their targets.

WHY UNITED NEED A NEW STRIKER

United finished outside the European places last season after finishing fifteenth in the Premier League for the 2024-25 season. Frontmen Josh Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund could not score consistently, with the former making little impact while the latter could not find his form.

Amorim sees a proven goalscorer as a solution to his problems and has already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves to reinforce the squad. The focus is now on securing a new forward, with United in contact for several options and conducting proactive market research for potential targets.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR UNITED?

The next steps for Manchester United depend on balancing outgoings and incomings. They have set their sights on a new striker and hope to complete a deal before the Premier League season kicks off in August 2025.

United’s first game is against Arsenal, who finished as runner-ups last season while they aim to get their first league title since 2004. In this context, securing a new forward and resolving outgoings will be key to their hopes in 2026.
