Marc Guiu Joins Sunderland on Season-Long Loan from Chelsea

Marc Guiu has moved to Sunderland from Chelsea on loan for the 2025-26 season. The newly promoted Premier League side will pay the 19-year-old forward’s salary in full but do not possess the option to make his stay permanent, as confirmed by reports.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Sunderland have signed Guiu on loan for the season. The 19-year-old has been on Chelsea’s books since the summer of 2024, when he joined in a £5 million transfer from Barcelona. While he enjoyed success in the Europa Conference League, the forward could not make a similar impact in the Premier League last season, netting just one goal in six appearances. However, Chelsea believe he remains an important player for the future and, hence, there is no option to buy on the loan deal, as noted in a previous update.
