Marcus Rashford Set to Return to Manchester United with £40m Price Tag

Marcus Rashford will come back to Manchester United after his loan to Aston Villa. The 27-year-old can be transferred for £40 million this summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Rashford went to Villa Park in February after Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim left him out of the team. He did well at Villa, scoring four goals and assisting six in 17 games. A hamstring injury ended his season early. Villa has a £40 million option to buy him, but other clubs can buy him too.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rashford left Manchester United after a dispute with Ruben Amorim in the 2024-25 season. At Villa, he became important to Unai Emery’s team. Villa almost made the Champions League but are now in the Europa League. They lost 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday. Manchester United is 5th in the Premier League, seven points ahead of Villa, with one game left.

WHAT RASHFORD SAID

Rashford posted on Instagram, seemingly bidding farewell to Villa: “Thanks to everyone at Villa for an incredible few months (except the injury). It is a special club, and I appreciated the Villa fans’ warm welcome. The manager, team, and coaches were brilliant. Missing the Champions League is a disappointment, but I know this club and team will come back stronger.”

WHAT NEXT FOR RASHFORD?

Rashford is under contract with Manchester United until 2028, but his future there is uncertain. He has 138 goals in 426 games for United and attracts transfer market interest. Villa could make his move permanent, but Rashford might look elsewhere, with Barcelona being mentioned as a possibility. United will sell him to any club paying £40 million, and Rashford will consider all his options during the transfer window.
