Maresca Discusses Garnacho’s Readiness for Starting Role
Manchester United manager Enzo Maresca has talked about possibly including Alejandro Garnacho in the starting lineup. He stressed the importance of players adapting and learning from recent mistakes.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Maresca plans to speak with young winger Alejandro Garnacho if he decides to start him in the next match. The coach said players need time to get used to new tactics and pressures. He mentioned United’s recent 2-2 draw with Brentford. During the game, Garnacho made a defensive mistake just before Brentford scored. Maresca explained, “Players need time to adapt. It’s a normal process. At Brentford, two or three minutes before the goal we conceded exactly the same, with player behind Garnacho alone again.”
THE SEASON SO FAR
Manchester United are currently outside the top four, sitting 13th in the Premier League after four matches, with one win, one draw, and two defeats. They have improved under Amorim, focusing on discipline. Garnacho, only 21, has started three matches this season. He has scored one goal and provided an assist but has faced criticism for his defensive work. United play Chelsea next. Chelsea have eight points, four more than United.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR GARNACHO AND UNITED?
Maresca has to choose whether to trust Garnacho or pick a more experienced player for the game against United. Chelsea come from a draw to Brentford and a loss to Bayern and will want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
